I'd say it's pretty obvious to even the casual observer that her psychotic break was driven by a high stress career. She has been given a staff job I suspect for two reasons. To allow her to finish her career and retire, and to provide her with the psychiatric and medical care she apparently needs.
I'd be disgusted if the Navy took the general republican path and booted someone who has served, and as a result has a disability that needs to be addressed. I imagine some republicans will push for her resignation or termination. As a combat veteran the only real discrimination I've experienced comes from conservatives.
This woman is a casualty. Not of combat, but it is no less real. Before any fiscal conservatives (cowards) whine about her getting a retirement, keep in mind she will need it more than someone who was not disabled by their service. Keep in mind her history will now make it especially difficult for her to start a new career.
